Description:
This monopole antenna is charged from above with a sphere to give an antenna actually shorter and to create a safety factor.
When powered by a 50 ohm coaxial transmission line, the antenna offers a voltage standing wave ratio of 1.2:1 at 1090 MHz and less than 2:1 at 1030 MHz.
The antenna has a vertically polarized omnidirectional radiation pattern when mounted under the aircraft fuselage. It weighs a light 0.7 ounces and is easily mounted by means of a ring-sealed bulkhead traversal with a BNC-type female connector.
