Functions that matter
The TY96 radio is a 10 Watt model suitable for general use.
The screen is clear and bright. It displays primary and secondary frequencies as well as ICAO or custom aerodrome identifiers. The "push step" button allows you to quickly go from 8.33 kHz to 25 kHz. You can switch from one frequency to another while remaining vigilant. Dual standby mode allows you to control two frequencies at the same time. You get two radios in one.
Both radios are equipped with the "Repeat" function.
A simple press of the button will listen to the last radio transmission. This feature is ideal for student pilots. However, sometimes not all pilots have listened carefully. This feature allows them not to have to ask air traffic control to repeat the message. A simple press of the emergency button automatically adjusts the frequency to 121.5 MHz, as well as the microphone and volume. In this way, you are assured of successful transmission in a situation that can be stressful.
Benefits of integration
Each radio is equipped with a two-seater intercom with auxiliary inputs for listening to stereo music and audible warnings. Each radio can connect to a GPS (SL40 protocol) that automatically displays frequencies as the flight route progresses. Finally, the aerodrome database can be loaded using a USB port. This database lists more than 200 of your preferred frequencies and identifiers.
Easy to install
The radio's slim-thin design means it doesn't require any external cooling. The compact size of the radios and their multifunctionality make them the ideal choice for a new installation or retrofit. Each radio has been designed to easily replace older radio models, including the popular KY 196A, KY 197A and SL 40.
