Description

TY96A model – Trig P/N 01788-00-01. 10 W transmit power, 760 channels (25 kHz spacing), 11–33 V supply. 8.33 kHz channel spacing is mandatory in Europe: this 760-channel version is intended for use outside Europe. Complete system: unit, mounting tray, installation kit, manuals and EASA Form 1. This page describes the TY96 / TY97 stack radio range.

Features that matter

The TY96 radio is a 10 Watt model suitable for general use. 

The display is clear and bright. It shows the active and standby frequencies as well as ICAO or custom airfield identifiers. The "push step" knob lets you switch quickly between 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz. You can swap between frequencies while staying alert. Dual watch mode lets you monitor two frequencies at the same time: you get two radios in one.

Both radios feature the "Say Again" function.
A single press of the button replays the last radio transmission. This feature is ideal for student pilots, although every pilot sometimes misses a message. It saves them from having to ask air traffic control to repeat it. A single press of the emergency button automatically tunes 121.5 MHz and sets the microphone and volume, so you can be confident your transmission will get through in what may be a stressful situation.

Integration benefits

Each radio has a built-in two-place intercom with auxiliary inputs for stereo music and audio alerts. Each radio can be connected to a GPS (SL40 protocol), which automatically displays frequencies as you progress along your flight route. Finally, the airfield database can be loaded via a USB port. This database holds over 200 of your favorite frequencies and identifiers.

Easy installation

The radio's slimline design means it requires no external cooling. Their compact size and versatility make these radios the ideal choice for a new installation or a retrofit. Each radio has been designed as an easy replacement for older radios, including the popular KY 196A, KY 197A and SL 40.
